Did you know that the Grand Canyon, located in the great American Southwest (Arizona, to be precise), is one of the seven natural wonders of the world? It is not really surprising. The beauty of the canyon is breathtaking. I do not think that any other place is quite like it.

Fun for the family

There's no better place in the United States to take a vacation in family as the Grand Canyon. In addition to the obvious tourist visit (it is nothing of the kind!), you can even take a smooth water rafting trip down the Colorado River. Water so calm as elderly and children 4 and up can participate in this unique experience.

It is difficult to appreciate how massive the Grand Canyon is when you arrive. Standing on the edge, you're about a mile above the Colorado River at the bottom. The river looks more like a Ribbon silver than it really - is the force that created the gorge on hundreds of millions of years. Some people prefer to stay at the top and explore the rim they visit. A few souls adventurous hiking on trails, until they reach the bottom. It's amazing what erosion can accomplish if given long enough.

Keep your children engaged and be on the lookout for wildlife species such as the California condor, falcons, bighorn sheep and rock squirrels. Observe plants and animals in their natural habitat, help your kids learn more about the delicate balance of nature. Your kids can learn a lot of things such as how to identify the animals, then they can imagine what they eat and where they live in the canyon.

The region is also rich in culture and native history. The Hualapai Indians lived in the Grand Canyon for thousands of years and now owner of the land on the edge of the West. The Hualapai is become creative ways to earn money from their land since the old methods of hunting for a living have disappeared, and one of the things they do is to derive income from the Glass Skywalk bridge.

All good teachers know children need to be interested to learn. Children are naturally curious, but they get bored easily. You can disrupt this trouble by changing the subject often to keep things exciting. Nothing combines just the right amount of excitement and evolution of the sites and topics better than an excursion of smooth water rafting.
